The night of April 30th (Walpurgis Night) is usually a "prank night" over here. We used to go around carrying Fiat Pandas into the middle of the street and such, but somebody else dropped a box of washing powder into a fountain. Same result.

A friend of mine had to clean one of those out once.

I won't tell you how I know this, but about 15 years ago someone put five gallons of dish washing soap and a quart of brown dye into the fountain in front of the Hilton Hotel on in downtown Charlotte, NC.
The result was a 50ft tall turd brown wall of bubbles that stretched for blocks down the street, closed traffic, and made the TV news. It covered 4th floor windows. HAZMAT was called out to verify is wasn't toxic.

we put a LOT of red dye in our schools fountain a few semesters ago. Now they leave it empty except for visiting days.

Somebody did that at Otakon a few years ago IIRC.
